Kyloth

Connect your own domain

Point a domain you own at your shop, prove it is yours with one DNS record, and keep your Kyloth address working.

User guide
These guides describe implemented workflows. You still need an account and access to the product; individual features can have separate requirements.

Where: Dashboard, Settings, Domain

Your shop already has an address, your shop name followed by the Kyloth domain, and it works completely. Connecting your own domain is optional and comes with a paid plan. You keep buying and renewing the domain at your registrar; Kyloth only answers for it.

  1. Sign in on the seller dashboard as the shop owner or an admin and open Settings. In the Domain group, type the domain you own, such as mitti.com or shop.mitti.in, without https:// or a path, and select Connect this domain. Kyloth's own names cannot be connected.
  2. Kyloth shows two records. Add both at the place you manage your domain's DNS, usually your registrar. The TXT record proves the domain is yours: its name begins with _kyloth-store. and its value begins with kyloth-domain-verification=. Copy both exactly with the copy buttons. The CNAME record sends visitors to your shop: its name is your domain and its target is your Kyloth address.
  3. If your provider does not allow a CNAME on a root domain such as mitti.com, use an ALIAS or ANAME record with the same target, or connect a subdomain such as shop.mitti.com instead.
  4. Wait for the records to spread. This usually takes an hour or two and can take up to two days. Then select Check now. Kyloth looks up the TXT record once each time you press it and tells you what it found: no record yet, a different value, a timeout, or a match.
  5. When the record matches, the group shows Connected. Customers who open your Kyloth address are sent to your domain, so links you already shared keep working. The www. form of your domain answers too.

A verification code is valid for three days. If it expires, select Get a new code, replace the TXT value at your registrar with the new one, and check again. A domain that is already connected to another shop cannot be connected until it is removed there.

Select Remove domain to stop using it. Your shop answers on its Kyloth address again straight away, and your domain stops showing the shop. Removing the domain here does not change the records at your registrar; delete those yourself when you no longer need them.

Before you continue
Keep the domain renewed at your registrar. If it lapses, the shop at that address disappears with it, and anyone who buys the name later can point it elsewhere. Your Kyloth address keeps working regardless.
