Checkout and payment

What a buyer goes through, and what you have to have set for it to work.

User guide
These guides describe implemented workflows. You still need an account and access to the product; individual features can have separate requirements.

Where: Dashboard, Settings

Your customers do not create an account. They fill in where the parcel is going, choose how they are paying, and place the order. That is deliberate: an account is a step between somebody and their money.

If checkout loses the response after an order is accepted, the buyer can retry with the same details in the same browser tab, including after reloading. Kyloth recovers that order rather than placing another. Until an uncertain submission is resolved, changing its details is blocked to avoid an accidental second purchase. If the tab is closed or browser storage is unavailable after a reload, ask the buyer to find their existing order by its number and phone before starting again. Card-payment uncertainty still needs the payment review shown on the receipt; retrying checkout does not confirm a payment.

  • Cash on delivery is on by default, because it is how most of India still buys.
  • UPI needs your VPA entered before it will be offered.
  • For local tests, connect your Razorpay test key ID, key secret and webhook secret under Settings → Your accounts, then enable Razorpay test checkout under payment methods. Use a test shop: these orders reserve stock, and no real money is collected.
  • A card order stays pending until its signed provider confirmation arrives. Return to the receipt and refresh after paying. Orders awaiting confirmation cannot be confirmed or packed; a payment needing review should be checked in Razorpay before trying again.
  • Card collection is available only for local Razorpay testing with physical products. A saved provider name alone cannot start a payment.
Before you continue
A payment method you switch on but never finish setting up is not offered at checkout. That is on purpose. A route to nowhere at the moment of payment costs you the order.

Ways to pay is a short block on each product page that tells a buyer how your shop takes money before they reach checkout. It appears once you have saved your payment methods in Settings, and stays hidden until then, so a shop that has not chosen says nothing rather than guessing. It states what you set: a saving for paying online, shown as a percentage; cash on delivery, with its fee if you set one; that the price includes all taxes; and that a GST invoice comes with every order if your GSTIN is saved. Cash on delivery is mentioned only on products that are posted.
