Shelves
Grouping products so a shopper can find them, by hand or by rule.
Where: Dashboard, Collections
- A shelf you fill by hand: you pick the products and you pick their order.
- A shelf that fills itself: you write a rule, such as everything under a price, and anything matching appears on it automatically.
- A shelf can be hidden while you build it. Hidden shelves are not in your shop's navigation.
- Each shelf can carry its own banner, its own description and its own words for search engines.
Renaming a shelf does not change its address, because the address may already be in links you have shared. To change it on purpose, open the shelf and use Address, then Change address. The old address keeps working and sends visitors to the new one permanently. A shelf you hide or delete cannot be redirected to, so its old address then shows a not-found page.
A rule shelf updates itself. Change a product's price and it joins or leaves the shelf without you touching the shelf at all.
A shelf's own page lets a shopper sort what's on it — featured, price low to high, price high to low, or newest first — and pages through it when it holds more than a screenful. Your Shop page does the same for everything you sell at once, so a shopper can reach your whole catalogue however large it grows. Shelves are for helping someone find a kind of thing, not for working around a limit.
