Posted or downloaded
What changes on checkout when a product has nothing to post.
Where: Dashboard, Catalog, a product
Every product is posted to the customer unless you say otherwise. Open a product and change How this reaches the customer to Downloaded, and checkout stops asking for anything a download does not need.
- No delivery charge on that item.
- No PIN code asked.
- No cash on delivery offered for it.
- Checkout asks only for name, phone, state, email and GSTIN (optional) — nothing about where a parcel goes, because none is going anywhere.
A bag holding one posted item and one downloaded item ships exactly as it always has: full address, normal delivery pricing, cash on delivery if you offer it. One thing to post is enough to make it a parcel.
Kyloth delivers the file for you. Upload one on the product — see Delivering a digital file below — and the buyer's receipt carries a working download link the moment the order is placed. You are not emailing or messaging anything yourself.
If cash on delivery is the only way you take payment, a downloaded item still sells: the order places as cash on delivery with nothing for a courier to carry, and you collect from the buyer however you already arrange that. Nothing here needs a courier to exist. Your dashboard's Going-live checklist notices this shape too and nudges you toward adding a UPI id, so a buyer can pay the moment they order instead of you collecting cash out of band.
The state is asked for even when nothing is posted, because it is not about delivery — it is what decides whether GST is charged as CGST and SGST or as IGST, and that has to be right whether or not a parcel is involved.
