Policies, FAQ and guides

Four policies and a shop FAQ, written once in Settings; guides, written in Journal as a different kind of entry.

User guide
These guides describe implemented workflows. You still need an account and access to the product; individual features can have separate requirements.

Where: Dashboard, Settings and Journal

Shipping, returns, terms of service and privacy each have their own field in Settings, under Policies, saved together with one Save button. Write any of the four and leave the rest blank, in any combination you like.

  • Each policy renders at its own address the moment you write it, and nowhere before that. There is no empty page waiting to be found — the address answers not-found until there is something behind it.
  • The matching link in your footer follows the same rule: it appears only once its page exists. Write all four and your footer carries four links; write none and it carries none.
  • Returns and privacy are required before you can publish — a shop needs both before it goes live. Shipping and terms of service are not: you can open your shop with either blank and add it whenever you are ready.

A shop FAQ is a separate list, below Policies in the same Settings screen: up to twenty questions and answers, saved as one group. It shows at its own address the moment you add the first one, and it does not gate going live either. Your questions also appear on your home page, wherever your theme places that band — write them once and both places show them.

Guides live in Journal, not in a separate screen. A journal entry and a guide are the same kind of writing, edited in the same place — a Type field on the entry decides which one it is. A journal entry is dated writing about anything; a guide reads the same way but lists at its own address, can point at one shelf so a reader can shop what it describes, and never appears mixed in with your dated journal entries.

If you delete the shelf a guide points at, the guide keeps working — it just stops offering that link, rather than breaking.

Reviews, wherever they are read from, are only ever what a buyer wrote through their purchase receipt. The page that lists every review across your shop shows nothing else — no review of yours, no review of anything hidden or still a draft, and nothing Kyloth added on your behalf.
