Which campaign brought an order

Tag the links you share, and see what each one actually sold.

User guide
These guides describe implemented workflows. You still need an account and access to the product; individual features can have separate requirements.

Where: Dashboard, Analytics

Add a tag to the end of any link you share and orders that arrive through it are counted against that tag by name. There is nothing to install and nothing to connect.

  1. Take the link to your shop, or to any product in it.
  2. Add ?utm_source=instagram to the end. Use whatever word you like in place of instagram, as long as you use the same word every time.
  3. Share that link instead of the plain one. A second link for a different place gets a different word.
  4. Record what you spent for the month in the box on the Analytics page, using the same words.

The table under Where those orders came from then shows orders, revenue and spend for each campaign side by side. A campaign you paid for that sold nothing gets a row too, because that is usually the most useful line on the page.

Before you continue
Cost per order only appears once a campaign has enough orders behind it to mean something. Under that, the table shows the orders and the spend and says it is too early rather than showing a number. Three orders against twenty thousand rupees is three orders, not a verdict, and cutting a campaign on it is how a shop kills something that was working.

Somebody who arrives from a tagged link, leaves, and comes back later by typing your shop name is still credited to that first link for the rest of that visit. Facebook and Google count it the other way round and will usually claim more than we do. Neither is lying. They report the last thing somebody clicked, we report what actually brought them.

Orders that arrive without a tag are not lost. They are counted in the blended cost per customer above the table, which is the figure to trust first.
