Where: Mail → Compose
- Choose Compose. The message window opens at the bottom right of the screen, or full screen on a phone. Use the window buttons to minimise it, make it full size or close it.
- Type addresses in To. A comma, a space, Enter or leaving the field turns each address into a chip; contacts from your address book are suggested as you type. Choose Cc or Bcc at the end of the To line to add those lines.
- Write a subject and your message, and attach up to 5 files totalling 1 MiB with the paperclip. Attachments are checked for viruses when the draft is saved.
- Choose Send, or press Ctrl+Enter (⌘+Enter on a Mac). Kyloth saves the draft, checks the saved version against what you wrote, and sends exactly that version. If the saved version differs, nothing is sent and the composer says why.
- After Send the window closes and a notice says Sending… with Undo for 10 seconds. Undo stops the message and opens it again for editing. Kyloth sends it when the 10 seconds are up, even if you close the page. Once sending has started, Undo says it is too late: a message the mail server may already have taken cannot be called back.
- Message sent: the window closes and a notice offers View message, which opens Sent. Kyloth files a copy in Sent and moves the draft to Trash only after the mail server accepts the message. Accepted means the server took it, not that it was delivered or read.
- Not sent: the mail server refused the message. The window stays open with the reason; fix it and choose Send again.
- Sending status unknown: the message may already have been accepted. Send is locked; choose Check status and do not send another copy.
- Sent, but not to everyone: the server accepted the message for some recipients and refused the addresses it names. Do not send it again to everyone; write to those addresses separately.
- People in Bcc receive the message without the others seeing them. Bcc addresses are never written into the message itself, the Drafts copy or the Sent copy.
- Your Mail plan sets how many messages the business can send each day and how many people one message may go to. At the limit, sending is refused until the allowance renews; drafts stay available.
- Switching to another tab saves your changes to Drafts. Closing or leaving the page clears anything not yet saved.
- Discard (the bin icon) removes a draft after you confirm. A draft that is being sent, or whose send status is unknown, cannot be discarded.
- Reply starts with the original message quoted as plain text. Reply all also copies the original's other recipients into Cc.
