Hold and retain a patient's data

Record why a patient's data is kept after a deletion or correction request.

Where: Clinic → Patients → Data requests

Before you continue
Nothing in Clinic deletes or changes a record from these screens. All patient data is kept. These steps record who agreed to keep it and why.
  1. Open a patient's Data requests. An owner or administrator records the request. An owner or administrator and the treating clinician each record a review.
  2. When a review says Retain, choose Hold and retain steps. Record the hold with its reason.
  3. The treating clinician records the retain review. A different owner or administrator then confirms. The server refuses a confirmation from the same person as the reviewing clinician.
