Look up listings and compare prices
Search Google Shopping for a product, compare one of your prices with what came back, and watch a search over time.
Where: Dashboard, Research
Research is optional and starts switched off. If the page says research is not switched on for this platform, nothing is wrong with your shop: Kyloth has not connected a search service yet, and you can sell exactly as before. Once it is available, the page asks you to switch it on for your shop. The same switch turns it off again.
- Open Research in the dashboard menu and, if asked, select Switch on product research.
- Type the product the way a buyer would, for example steel water bottle 1 litre. You can add a lowest and highest price in rupees. Select Search.
- Read the listings. Each shows the title, the seller Google Shopping names, the listing price and an Open link that takes you to the source in a new tab.
- To compare, pick one of your products in Compare with my product before you search. The page shows the lowest, middle and highest listing price in that search, how many listings and how old the sample is, and where your price sits.
- To follow a search over time, select Watch this search, choose the product, daily or weekly, and optionally a price band. The watch list shows the middle price from the last two completed runs and how it moved.
- Allowance: each shop has a number of searches a day and a month, shown on the page. A repeat of the same search within a few hours is free and is marked as a repeat. A watch run uses one search from the same allowance.
- A search that times out may still have been counted. The page says so, and it is never shown as zero listings. A search the service refused is not counted.
- Prices are in rupees. A listing priced in another currency, or without a readable price, is left out and the page tells you how many.
- What you search for is kept for 180 days so you can see your history, and is visible only to your shop's team.
Research never changes your catalogue. It does not set or change any price, and it does not copy a listing, a description or a photograph into your shop. If a comparison makes you want a different price, you edit the product yourself, and the page links to the product and to the pricing calculator in your dashboard.
